On Friday, the Topsail Pirates's game was all tied up 15-15 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 48-41 win over Laney. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Topsail.
Topsail found their leader in underclassman Charley Moore, who scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emmy Clark, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Laney lost, one person who can't be blamed is Piper Conklin. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with two steals. Tisha Mathis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Topsail pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Laney, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Topsail will head out on the road to take on Ashley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Laney, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. North Brunswick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Laney is ranked 128th).
