Ella Newman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
