The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Valdosta is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Valdosta posted their closest win since November 20, 2023 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Lowndes out 50-47. Given Valdosta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Vikings are ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valdosta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Israel Jenrette, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Jenrette is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Jabarri Williams was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.
Meanwhile, Colquitt County came up short against the Bearcats on Wednesday and fell 47-36. Colquitt County has not had much luck with the Bearcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Valdosta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Colquitt County, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Valdosta strolled past the Packers in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a score of 62-44. Will Valdosta repeat their success, or do the Packers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
