Southeastern has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Adena has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Panthers will welcome the Warriors at 5:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southeastern and Westfall meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Dylan Skaggs was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jade Turner, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Southeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Adena's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Piketon by a score of 21-19.
Jo Jett and Marly Halcomb did some serious damage despite the final result: Jett fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances, while Halcomb got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. With that strong performance, Jett is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Mallow, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Adena's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Southeastern, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Adena's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Southeastern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Adena, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Southeastern keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
Southeastern suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Adena when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
