Calvary Chapel Academy was handed a 40-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Jaguar on Tuesday. Calvary Chapel Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Jaguar 52-49. The win was just what Calvary Chapel Academy needed coming off of a 90-50 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Avon stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Atlantis 71-43 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Avon.
Avon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Guerrier, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Guerrier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Edwards, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Calvary Chapel Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Avon, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
Calvary Chapel Academy came up short against the Panthers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 61-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Guerrier, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
