Lowell is 2-8 against Hanover Central since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red Devils will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Lowell will be strutting in after a win while Hanover Central will be coming in after a loss.
Lowell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Rensselaer Central 21-1 on Thursday. The Red Devils have beaten the Bombers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bombers has come to flipping the script.

Mason Brooker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Owen Thomas looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lowell is undefeated when Thomas allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Zak Scharnke was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Camden Mikulich, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs.
Lowell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hanover Central is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of St. Laurence. The Wildcats fell 5-0 to the Vikings. The match marked the first time this season in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.
Hanover Central also got a good showing from Ian Flores, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Flores has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
Lowell pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Hanover Central, they moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Lowell came up short against Hanover Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 11-8. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
