The Shoemaker Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Troy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Bastrop hit Shoemaker with a seven-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves lost 11-2 to the Bears. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Wolves couldn't push the score so high this time.
Diana Samuelu-Pedro made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Yanimarie Nieves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Troy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ellison with a sharp 15-0 victory on Tuesday.
Troy got a massive performance out of Laney Bennett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Bennett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayleigh Johnson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs.
Troy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellison only posted an OBP of .167.
Shoemaker has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Troy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Shoemaker came out on top in a nail-biter against Troy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
