The Steinbrenner Warriors will face off against the Cambridge Christian Lancers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Steinbrenner barely beat Robinson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Steinbrenner never let Robinson get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Saturday. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Steinbrenner let Chase Petker and Will Hoblitzell run wild. Petker went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Hoblitzell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Petker has posted since back in February. Nick Osborne was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Steinbrenner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Cambridge Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hillsborough on Saturday. Cambridge Christian put the hurt on Hillsborough with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Will Snider tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Ian Jansen and Luca Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Jansen went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Gonzalez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Braiden Price, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Cambridge Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. The win got Steinbrenner back to even at 7-7.
