The Sylmar Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Van Nuys Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sylmar's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for Sylmar at home against the Hunters as the team secured a 71-38 victory. Sylmar pushed the score to 58-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hunters cut but never quite recovered from.
Sylmar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Dickson, Jr, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Lee, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Van Nuys was able to grind out a solid victory over the Pythons on Wednesday, taking the game 57-47. 57 seems to be a good number for Van Nuys as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Sylmar's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-14. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.1 points per game. As for Van Nuys, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Everything went Sylmar's way against the Wolves in their previous meeting back in January as the Spartans made off with a 76-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sylmar since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
