It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ferriday Trojans had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 34-6 win over Jonesboro-Hodge at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for Ferriday as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Ferriday's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Ellis led the charge by throwing for 146 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Jerry Griffin jr was another key contributor, gaining 98 total yards and a touchdown.
Ferriday's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Jonesboro-Hodge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Ferriday will head out on the road to face off against Kentwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kentwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Ferriday likes a good challenge. Jonesboro-Hodge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
