The Pueblo West Cyclones won the last time they faced the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks, and things went their way on Friday too. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 59-27 blowout they got on the road against Cheyenne Mountain. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Pueblo West has managed all season.
Pueblo West was led to victory by Jamie Suazo and Trynity Martin. Suazo scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Martin dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna McGraw, who scored eight points.
Pueblo West's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Pueblo West will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Rampart at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
