Roseville is 2-8 against Woodcreek since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Roseville Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Woodcreek Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Roseville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Roseville suffered a rough 75-49 loss at the hands of Antelope.
Despite the loss, Roseville saw an underclassman step up: Oreste Yong scored nine points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Santiago Barbonier, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Woodcreek made easy work of River Valley on Wednesday and carried off a 71-50 win. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while River Valley is ranked 734th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodcreek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Joey Nielsen, who scored 11 points, and Max VanLaningham, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hennessey, who scored six points.
Roseville's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Woodcreek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Roseville hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64 points per game. However, it's not like Woodcreek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Roseville was dealt a bruising 70-39 defeat at the hands of Woodcreek in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Woodcreek's Aidan Triplet, who scored 34 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that Roseville knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
