The Creekview Grizzlies lost against the River Ridge Knights back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Creekview fell 50-40 to River Ridge. While losing is never fun, Creekview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while River Ridge is ranked fourth).
Creekview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marissa Mason, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Finley Howard, who scored six points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allie Sweet, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds. Sweet has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Sophia Pearl was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Creekview has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for River Ridge, their win was their 15th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Creekview won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cambridge at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Cambridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. River Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Galloway at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Galloway has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 459 points over their last seven matches.
