East is 0-3 against the Tigers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The East Dragons will look to defend their home court against the Washington Tigers at 6:30 p.m. East is out to stop a 13-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
East struggled with assists on Thursday (the Cowboys had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. East was beaten by the Cowboys 51-20. East has not had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Brooklynn Diener put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 50% of East's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Za'Miya Brown was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Washington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Ashland with a sharp 72-46 victory. Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Arrows are ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for La Nia Moore, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Moore is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Russell, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
East's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
East took a serious blow against the Tigers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 81-16. Will East have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
