This season hasn't been kind to The Morehead Panthers, who are still winless after their tenth match. They took a serious blow against Reidsville on Friday, falling 61-10. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morehead in their matchups with Reidsville: they've now lost nine in a row.
AL Lee went supernova for Reidsville, throwing for 295 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes. Lee hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Dionte Neal also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Reidsville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Morehead's QB won't forget Paul Widerman anytime soon given Widerman sacked him four times.
Morehead's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-2 Burns and 8-2 Williams (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Reidsville, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Morehead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Reidsville will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Reidsville is ranked 68th).
