It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Nation Ford Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Fort Mill with a 68-62 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Nation Ford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Giles, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Giles has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Burnham, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Fort Mill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nas Berry, who scored 23 points along with three steals. Berry continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was AJ Washington, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Fort Mill struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Nation Ford racked up 20 assists.
The win was the third in a row for Nation Ford, bringing their record for this year to 10-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Fort Mill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nation Ford will take on Clover at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Clover is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Fort Mill, they will head out on the road to take on Blythewood at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Blythewood is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
