Mountain View hasn't had much luck against Caldera recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will venture away from home to face off against Caldera at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mountain View comes in on five and Caldera on eight.
It was a proper cat-fight when Mountain View challenged Redmond on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Panthers. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Blaire Eckman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mountain View let Cadence Kennedy and Kallie Eckman run wild. Kennedy went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Eckman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Marley Russell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Caldera posted their closest win since April 22nd on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Crook County.
The team relied heavily on Aubrey Hall, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Guerin, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
Caldera kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Mountain View's record now sits at 19-4. As for Caldera, their record is now 24-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Mountain View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Caldera struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View couldn't quite get it done against Caldera in their previous matchup two weeks ago as they fell 3-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
