Westfield has won seven straight games at home, while Longmeadow has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Bombers will host the Lancers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Westfield got the win against Pioneer Valley Christian by a conclusive 3-0.
While Westfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-11.
Meanwhile, Longmeadow beat Medfield 3-1 on Monday.
The win didn't come easy: Medfield scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20.
Longmeadow's win came from a few key players Westfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chris Bousquet, who had 37 digs and three assists. He has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 11 times he's played.
Longmeadow has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Westfield, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: Westfield has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8 aces per game. However, it's not like Longmeadow struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Westfield was able to grind out a solid win over Longmeadow in their previous meeting back in April, winning 3-1. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
