The Chesaning Indians put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Durand 54-40. Given Chesaning's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Durand is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Durand saw an underclassman step up: Darius Aldrich scored eight points along with 14 rebounds. Levi Smith was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Chesaning pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Durand, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Chesaning will head out on the road to challenge Lakeville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Durand, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Byron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Byron is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
