The Foothill Falcons will face off against the Legacy Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Foothill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over Southeast Career Tech. The victory was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Camren VanThomme was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. VanThomme was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Hailey Gilbertson was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazzy Hall, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are 11-2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Legacy hadn't beaten Spring Valley on the road since March 3, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 13-3 win. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Madison Castellon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aofia Noa, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
Legacy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 13-11-1.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Foothill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .487. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've averaged .511. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
