With a playoff win on the line, La Vega rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-30 victory over the Sealy Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Bryson Roland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 301 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kourtney Parr, who punched in two rushing scores.
Sealy's loss came despite strong showings from Noah Washington and Kane Killough. Washington picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Killough threw for 240 yards and one touchdown. Washington's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 receiving yards.
La Vega's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.9 points per game. As for Sealy, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.
La Vega wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 62-35 victory against Wimberley on the 13th. Sealy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
