Basketball Recap: Aviana Scharfenberger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coconino over Prescott

Coconino lost against Prescott back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Coconino Panthers came up short against the Prescott Badgers, falling 66-46.

Coconino's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aviana Scharfenberger, who posted 21 points. That's the most points Scharfenberger has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Autumn Larsen, who had 13 points.

Leading Prescott to victory were Bella Abt and Addie Prisciandaro. Abt went 7 of 17 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Prisciandaro put up 19 points and three steals. Abt has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentlee Crockett, who posted four points and three steals.

Coconino's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Prescott, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Coconino wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-41 victory against Mohave on the 9th. As for Prescott, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-34 win against Bradshaw Mountain on the 9th.
