The Concord Academy Eagles stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They put the hurt on United Faith Christian Academy with a sharp 52-32 win. Given Concord Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while United Faith Christian Academy is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Concord Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samantha Meyers, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Alexander, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, United Faith Christian Academy had strong showings from Jada Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Devin Long, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
The win was the fourth in a row for Concord Academy, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. As for United Faith Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Concord Academy will head out on the road to take on Westminster Catawba Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Myana Fore and Alexander. As for United Faith Christian Academy, United Faith Christian Academy and Oak City Prep will face off at 10:00 a.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oak City Prep will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
