Several Brickies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Ortiz, who scored eight points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Riley Weber, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merrillville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Erin Mukes, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mukes scored 15 or more points. Nyesha Davis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Hobart's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-14. As for Merrillville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hobart won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hanover Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hanover Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hobart in Indiana (Hanover Central is ranked 134th, while Hobart is ranked 302nd). As for Merrillville, they will be playing at home against Portage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Portage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Thursday.
