After three games on the road, Eupora is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Bruce Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Eupora was the victim of a tough 46-24 defeat at the hands of Nanih Waiya. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eupora has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Bruce came up short against South Pontotoc on Tuesday and fell 37-29. While losing is never fun, Bruce can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while South Pontotoc is ranked 64th).
Despite the loss, Bruce saw an underclassman step up: Laken Corbitt scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Corbitt scored a full 41.4% of Bruce's points, the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bruce struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eupora's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Bruce, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Eupora, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-49 loss to Bruce when the teams last played back in November.
