The East St. Louis Flyers's six-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They really took it to Belleville West for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-23 win at home. With East St. Louis ahead 38-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
East St. Louis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camya Pitts, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Pitts grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryale Mosley, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
East St. Louis' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Belleville West, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East St. Louis will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mascoutah at 12:00 p.m. on December 26th. Belleville West will be home for the holidays to greet Granite City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
