Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
J.T. Lindsey of
Alexandria is the 2024 MaxPreps Louisiana High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior running back led the Trojans to a 13-1 record and to the school's first-ever undefeated regular season.
For the season, Lindsey rushed for 2,476 yards and 33 touchdowns. He added 18 receptions for 248 yards and three more scores. His efforts helped Alexandria reach the Division I Select state championship, the school's second title game appearance.
Lindsey rushed for at least 100 yards in all but one game and eclipsed the 200-yard mark in six games.
In a 24-13 state semifinal win over John Curtis Christian (River Ridge), Lindsey ran 41 times for 247 yards and two touchdowns. In four playoff games, he ran 105 times for 750 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Lindsey led the Trojans to their first district title since 2012, rushing for 206 yards and two scores on 30 carries in a 42-16 win over Neville (Monroe) to close out the regular season.
Regarded as the No. 5 senior prospect in the state of Louisiana and No. 13 running back nationally by 247Sports, Lindsey signed with LSU earlier this month after fielding nearly 20 FBS offers.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
