Princeton has gone 8-2 against Mt. Vernon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Princeton has insisted on making their last three contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
On Thursday, Princeton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over Forest Park. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won three in a row.
Princeton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raven Jones led the charge by shooting 55% from the field en route to 17 points. The last time Jones' shooting accuracy was this high was back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nya Dame, who posted 12 points and six assists.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon escaped with a win on Saturday against Pike Central by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38.
Mt. Vernon's win came from a few key players Princeton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Stella Hall, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 18 points along with seven steals and six boards. Hall is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Ellison, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.
Mt. Vernon was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 2-1 when they've passed the ball that well.
Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Princeton, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Princeton hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.6 points per game. It's a different story for Mt. Vernon, though, as they've been averaging only 31.6 points. The only thing between Princeton and another offensive beatdown is the Wildcats. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Princeton against Mt. Vernon in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 60-21 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
