South Fork is a perfect 7-0 against Port St. Lucie since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. South Fork took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Centennial, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. South Fork won by a run and slipped past Centennial 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Eagles since February 21, 2020.
South Fork got a great performance from Mackenzie Brown as she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, Rachel Kramer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Elliana Hernandez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port St. Lucie). They walked away with a 24-20 win over Berean Christian on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Jaguars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Mirelis Benito was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Torres, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-6.
Port St. Lucie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berean Christian only posted an OBP of .480.
Port St. Lucie's victory bumped their record up to 2-5-1. As for South Fork, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
Everything went South Fork's way against Port St. Lucie when the teams last played back in February, as South Fork made off with an 18-0 victory. Will South Fork repeat their success, or does Port St. Lucie has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
