Holy Child hasn't had much luck against St. Luke recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Gryphons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Holy Child needed a bit of extra time to put away Hopkins. They came out on top against the Hilltoppers by a score of 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gryphons.
Angelina Squillante spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Holy Child got a massive performance out of Reagan Adiletta, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Duffy, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, St. Luke's got themselves on the board against Frederick Gunn on Monday, but Frederick Gunn never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Highlanders.
Lucia Biasotti made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Biasotti was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Ellie Fatsi was a standout: she scored four runs while going 3-for-4. Keira Penn was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Holy Child's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for St. Luke's, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
