If The Sheehan Titans were riding high off their 35-0 takedown of the Foran Lions last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sheehan took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Branford on Friday. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Sheehan was outscored by Branford in the second.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paul Gorry, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 81 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Rossacci, who rushed for 128 yards.
Leading Branford to victory were Nate Florio and Akiel Lomotey. Florio rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Lomotey rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
Sheehan's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Branford, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Sheehan will be playing in front of their home fans against Amity Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Amity Regional comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Branford, they will head out on the road to face off against Hand at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hand presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Branford in Connecticut (Hand is ranked 19th, while Branford is ranked 67th).
