Immanuel and Washington Union are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Immanuel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Immanuel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 24-run drubbing they dealt Central Valley Christian on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cavaliers a 24-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won nine in a row.
Amanda Herrera made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Herrera was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Immanuel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .592. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Washington Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Exeter, falling 8-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Callie Flores spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Washington Union saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Freitas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Immanuel's win bumped their record up to 12-5-2. As for Washington Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Washington Union's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Immanuel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Washington Union, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Immanuel keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Immanuel took their victory against Washington Union in their previous meeting on April 2nd by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
