The Hartsville Red Foxes entered their tilt with the South Florence Bruins with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Hartsville strolled past South Florence with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 49-34. Given Hartsville's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while South Florence is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jazzy Frierson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Mitchell, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, South Florence saw an underclassman step up: Madison Randolph scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Randolph has scored all season. Amari Gamble was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Hartsville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for South Florence, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hartsville will stay at home for another game and welcome Fairfield Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Fairfield Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for South Florence, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wilson at 6:00 p.m. Wilson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game.
