The Modesto Christian Crusaders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tokay 94-43 on the road. Modesto Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 22 points or more this season.
Modesto Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Sykes out in front who scored 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sykes has scored at least 25% of Modesto Christian's points. Ross Widemon was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
The victory (which was Modesto Christian's seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.1 points per game. As for Tokay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Modesto Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lodi at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. Lodi is on a three-game streak of home wins, Modesto Christian a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Tokay, they will head out on the road to face off against Tracy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tracy is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
