The Los Altos Conquerors will challenge the San Dimas Saints at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Los Altos will be strutting in after a victory while San Dimas will be coming in after a defeat.
On Wednesday, Los Altos was able to grind out a solid win over Alta Loma, taking the game 6-2.
Kaylahni Duenas was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Los Altos let Angel Aguilar and Isys Garcia run wild. Aguilar went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Garcia went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Garcia has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brianah Alejandre, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
Los Altos lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, San Dimas lost 15-3 to South Hills on Wednesday. The Saints have struggled against the Huskies recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Jaidyn Baeza was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Malia Arochi was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Los Altos' victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for San Dimas, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Los Altos hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like San Dimas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Los Altos skirted past San Dimas 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Will the Conquerors repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
