The Lawrence County Red Devils suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of West Morgan by a score of 61-58. Lawrence County has not had much luck with West Morgan recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Lawrence County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Newton, who scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zander Keepers, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Lawrence County's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for West Morgan, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-12.
Lawrence County will look to defend their home court on Friday against Russellville at 7:00 p.m. Russellville is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for West Morgan, they will square off against Westminster Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
