The South Bend Washington Panthers were the 78-40 winner over the South Bend Adams Eagles when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. South Bend Washington fell to South Bend Adams 53-48. South Bend Washington found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 6 on offense.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Steven Reynolds 3, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Reynolds 3 has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Donovan Johnson, who scored 20 points along with three steals and two blocks.
South Bend Adams found their leader in underclassman Jarvis Tolbert, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Tolbert has scored at least a third of South Bend Adams' points. Amari Wesson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
South Bend Washington has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for South Bend Adams, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
South Bend Washington's road trip will continue as they head out to face Jimtown at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for South Bend Adams, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marquette Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
