Lincoln-Way Central is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Lockport is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Knights will host the Porters at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Lincoln-Way Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lincoln-Way East, who was ranked third at the time (Lincoln-Way Central was ranked first). The Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Griffins a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Knights have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lisabella Dimitrijevic made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Lincoln-Way Central let Mia Degliomini and Ellie McLaughlin run wild. Degliomini went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run, while McLaughlin went 2-for-3 with two runs. Kayla Doerre was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Lockport made easy work of Homewood-Flossmoor on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 victory.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Lane, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liliana Janeczko, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Lockport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homewood-Flossmoor only posted an OBP of .062.
Lockport is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln-Way Central, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.
Lincoln-Way Central skirted past Lockport 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Porters turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
