The Colbert Heights Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Hackleburg 41-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Colbert Heights of the 41-35 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 9th.
Hackleburg found their leader in underclassman Ellie Nichols, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Nichols has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordin Ware, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Colbert Heights' loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Hackleburg, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colbert Heights the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Waterloo at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hackleburg will take on Brilliant at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Brilliant is ranked 189th, while Hackleburg is ranked 200th).
