The St. Xavier Bombers waltzed into their game Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 44-40 victory over Lutheran East. Despite the win, that was the fewest points St. Xavier has scored all year.
Leading St. Xavier to victory were Donovan Waleskowski and Jacob Wassler. Waleskowski scored 15 points along with six rebounds, while Wassler scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Wassler's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Weber, who scored six points.
St. Xavier's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lutheran East, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Xavier's road trip will continue as they head out to face Badin at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Badin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 398th, while St. Xavier is ranked 37th). As for Lutheran East, they will head out on the road to face off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
