Silver Creek and Holy Family are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Raptors will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silver Creek is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Silver Creek came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mead by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raptors have suffered since March 28th.
Brody Simpson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Spiegel, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Holy Family made sure to put some runs up on the board against Horizon on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Hawks 13-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Holy Family also got a great performance from Joshua Grenzenbach as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Grenzenbach has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Brady Anderson was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dustin Bennett, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Holy Family was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Holy Family pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Silver Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Silver Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Holy Family in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
