Little Kanawha recap Oct. 16, 2012
St. Marys extended the longest winning streak in Little Kanawha this week by beating Gilmer County, 54-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Clay County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,331 from 11,841. The improvement came about via a 27-20 victory over Sissonville last week.
St. Marys' dynamic duo of Andrew Cosper and David Gray proved tough for the Titans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cosper threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns and Gray had 52 yards receiving. Johnny Riggs helped St. Marys' passing attack out by catching two balls for 49 yards.
Wyatt Ford was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 105 yards on 25 carries as Doddridge County topped Gilmer County. Devin Anderson also contributed to the rushing game with 17 yards on the ground.
5-foot-11 quarterback Joshua Trembly of Wirt County is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1196. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, the Bulldogs' Ford has rushed for 911 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is DYLAN FRYE. The Ritchie County star has 27 catches for 438 yards.
Doddridge County's Ford is a mere 89 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in Little Kanawha this week will be when South Harrison takes on St. Marys. At the moment, the Hawks are in ninth, while the Blue Devils are in first.
St. Marys led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Jason Cunningham's team. Cosper ran for five yards in the win.
