Softball Recap: Tidehaven Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Tidehaven lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Yoakum, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Tidehaven Tigers were the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over the Yoakum Bulldogs on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maleah Galvan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Kayleigh Nash was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played.

The win (which was Tidehaven's seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Yoakum, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Tidehaven Tigers duke it out with Columbus Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Yoakum, they will head out on the road to face off against Edna at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
