The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Larimore Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Monday, New Rockford-Sheyenne's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down St. John 61-47. Given New Rockford-Sheyenne's advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while St. John is ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Larimore came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Wyndmere/Lidgerwood with points to spare, taking the game 64-48. Larimore's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Michael Myers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Collison, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
New Rockford-Sheyenne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Larimore, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
New Rockford-Sheyenne didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Larimore in their previous matchup back in December of 2016, but they still walked away with a 40-36 victory. Will New Rockford-Sheyenne repeat their success, or does Larimore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
