North Central Texas Academy has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Dallas HSAA Red Blue Angels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, North Central Texas Academy came up short against Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes and fell 70-57. While losing is never fun, North Central Texas Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 546th, while Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes is ranked 235th).
Despite their loss, North Central Texas Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Eric Cardenas, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Cardenas hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Diego Landin, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, sadly, Dallas HSAA Red is still looking for their first win of the season after four matches. They fell 82-72 to John Paul II last Tuesday.
North Central Texas Academy dropped their record down to 15-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dallas HSAA Red, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
North Central Texas Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Dallas HSAA Red in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 55-52. Will North Central Texas Academy repeat their success, or does Dallas HSAA Red have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
