Softball Recap: Eldred Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Eldred, who bounced back after a loss on the road on April 4th. They put the hurt on Burke Catholic with a sharp 26-3 win on Monday. The Yellowjackets have beaten Burke Catholic the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Burke Catholic has come to flipping the script.

Giada Donato made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Donato was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Bisland was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Olivia Gonzalez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

Eldred always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

The victory got Eldred back to even at 1-1. As for Burke Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Eldred has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Chapel Field Christian on the 22nd. Hopefully Burke Catholic paid attention to Eldred's matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on Eldred at 4:30 p.m. on May 5.
