Empire have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Cyril at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Empire, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
There's no need to mince words: Empire lost to Southwest Covenant two weeks ago, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 0-50.
Meanwhile, their game wasn't at all kind to Cyril, but their most recent matchup may have softened the blow. Everything went their way against Bray-Doyle last week as the squad secured a 52-6 victory.
Cyril's win lifted them to 2-2 while Empire's loss dropped them down to 2-2. In their win, Cyril relied heavily on junior Hunter Brown, who rushed for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns. Empire will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
