The Liberty Patriots and the Bishop Gorman Gaels (ranked 95 and 97 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. Liberty walked away with a 72-65 win over the Gaels on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Andre Porter, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dante Steward, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Bishop Gorman, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.
Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Vegas is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Bishop Gorman, they will head out on the road to challenge the Skyhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Silverado has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 570 points over their last eight matchups.
