AAA District 9 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Lincoln Kenitzer and Jalen Hurd provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Hendersonville. The connection was good for 70 yards, the longest such play in AAA District 9 this season.
Wilson Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Portland, 28-24. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Hurd was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 216 yards on 33 carries as Beech bested the Commandos. Teammate Treston Wright added to the ground attack by rushing for nine yards.
Hurd was the best wideout in AAA District 9 this week as the Buccaneers beat Hendersonville. Hurd racked up one reception for 70 yards. Dametris Watson helped Beech's passing attack out by catching two balls for 49 yards.
Kyle Anderton put up the best numbers through the air as Station Camp topped Lebanon. He finished with a total of five completions for 100 yards and three touchdowns. Anderton's favorite target this week was Josh Malone, who caught three passes for 66 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Kenitzer and Hurd Beech has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Kenitzer leads the league in passing with 709 yards, while Hurd has rushed for 1890 yards this season. The Bison's Malone leads the league in receiving yards with 322 on 20 catches.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Anthony Crabtree's team and Wilson Central. The Buccaneers comes into the matchup ranked seventh in the state, while Brad Dedman's team ranks 19th.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Beech and the Wildcats meet this week. The Buccaneers features well-regarded junior Hurd while Wilson Central has Gabe Angel, a sought after freshman.
Mount Juliet took down Gallatin 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
