Softball Recap: Harbor Teacher Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Harbor Teacher dropped their record down to 7-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 8-2 to the King/Drew Golden Eagles. The Monarchs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Eagles earlier this season, when they won 20-9.

Lexi Cetina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Briana Alagba was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for King/Drew, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

On King/Drew's side, Jordan Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Garcia was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Arianna Lawrence and Xeniya Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Lawrence went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Lawrence has posted since back in April of 2024. Natalia Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Coincidentally, Harbor Teacher and King/Drew will both be playing Fremont the next time they take the field. The Golden Eagles will head out to face the Pathfinders at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Monarchs will host them at 2:30 p.m. on the 9th.
